The Gulf Giants have bolstered their squad for the remainder of the 2024 International League T20 (ILT20) by signing Nepal's batting all-rounder, Dipendra Singh Airee. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) recently confirmed this significant addition to the team's roster.

Under the leadership of England's James Vince, the Gulf Giants already flaunt an impressive lineup featuring renowned names such as Shimron Hetmyer, Chris Lynn, Carlos Brathwaite, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Chris Jordan.

Airee, aged 24, joins the squad at a crucial juncture as they currently occupy the second position in the league standings, having accumulated ten points from nine matches with one league-stage encounters remaining. With only the top four teams advancing to the playoffs in the six-team competition, every match becomes pivotal for the Gulf Giants.

Expressing his excitement about joining the team, Airee conveyed his gratitude and determination, stating, "I’m honoured to be part of this team. It’s a fantastic opportunity, and I’m eager to contribute to our success. I appreciate the franchise’s confidence in me and am ready to give my best on the field," as quoted by cricnepal.com.

Airee's meteoric rise to prominence was highlighted during the Asian Games last year, where he made headlines by smashing a blistering 50 off just nine deliveries against Mongolia in the tournament opener. Additionally, he shattered the long-standing record for the fastest T20I half-century, previously held by Yuvraj Singh, achieving the feat in only 12 balls.

As the tournament progresses, Airee's inclusion adds further depth and dynamism to the Gulf Giants' formidable lineup, setting the stage for an exhilarating culmination to the competition.
