"Who Wants to Be a Guy in a Suit?", " Talks over everybody's head" Vince Russo Questions Appeal of Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has been making waves since his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, gaining immense popularity among fans. However, former WWE head writer Vince Russo isn't convinced that Rhodes is truly "over" with the audience.

Russo recently shared his thoughts on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, questioning what exactly makes a wrestler popular and expressing doubts about Rhodes' appeal.

According to Russo, being genuinely popular with the crowd means that people aspire to be like that wrestler. He cited examples such as Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker, iconic figures whom fans admired and wanted to emulate.

However, Russo couldn't grasp why Cody Rhodes has captured the audience's attention to the same degree. Talking on

Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW he said,

"Part of being genuinely over is 'I want to be that guy.' Everyone wanted to be [Steve] Austin. 'Taker [The Undertaker] was so cool that you want to be that guy. I can’t see anybody wanting to be the guy who comes out in a three-piece suit," Russo remarked.

He went on to question Rhodes' appeal further, stating, "I could see [someone] wanting to be Sting, I get that. I don’t know who would want to be a guy that comes out in a suit and talks over everybody’s head."

Russo's comments have sparked debate within the pro wrestling community, especially considering Rhodes' upcoming rematch against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Initially, Rhodes seemed to jeopardize his spot in the event by offering it to The Rock, but fan support ultimately led to him challenging The Tribal Chief.
