WWE Star CM Punk Shares Status Update on Return Following Torn Triceps Injury

CM Punk

WWE icon CM Punk made an appearance at UFC 298 on Saturday night, blending his love for mixed martial arts with answering queries about his wrestling future. Currently on the mend from a triceps injury sustained at this year's WWE Royal Rumble, the "Straight Edge Superstar" addressed eager fans anticipating his return, revealing a delayed timeline.

In an interview with UFC on TNT Sports, Punk disclosed that the injury had disrupted his initial plans to headline WWE WrestleMania 40. Consequently, his return to competitive action is not expected until the latter half of 2024.

"We're looking at maybe six to eight months, but my focus is not on rushing back to compete. I'm prioritizing my health and recovery. The sooner I achieve that, the stronger I'll be when I make my comeback."

Punk's setback occurred during his first televised match since rejoining WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023. Despite the unfortunate timing, the former AEW star acknowledged injuries as an inherent aspect of the profession.

"Injuries are part and parcel of being an athlete. Mentally, it's challenging because the physical pain is manageable. I view it as a mere hiccup in the journey. It's an occupational hazard that happens, and I'm confident I'll return even more formidable. Call me a clumsy idiot, but I tore my left triceps about two years ago, so the right one felt left out this time."
